Fuse location query

Been spending time thinning down the wiring loom from my MX-5 and have a question regarding the passenger compartment fuse box. The Haynes manual (no. 5565) has a picture showing the values, circuit protected and fuse locations in this box and none of them correspond to the locations in the fuse box on my loom.

Now I must add that this is not a problem as its just a case of tracing back the wires from the circuits and checking fuse location and value etc. - but I was just curious if anyone else has come across the same. I have a 1998 MK2 1800 and the wiring diagrams I'm using are for a 1998 - 1999 model so i'm looking at the right diagram. The engine compartment fuse box locations match exactly as per the Haynes its just the passenger compartment fuse box that seems at odds.

Was there and update/adendum to the manual that I missed and does anyone know an accurate alternative resourse for MX-5 wiring that works (i've tried one that appears no longer to operate), is the Haynes wrong? My loom appears not to have been tampered with in any way.

Any thoughts?

Chris

I found the same thing when I was thinning down the sierra loom. I just checked the fuse rating for each circuit was correct and made a new diagram. This was helpful as I moved all the remaining circuits into the top of the box and cut the unused bit off.

Amazing how many wires changed colour in the loom as well....

Have a look here

Yours would be under 1999.

I found them to be very accurate.

Cheers for the link - just what I was looking for. I think I will print out as the other half would not be best pleased to see the laptop in the garage!

Just out of interest does anyone know what a fuse location marked as 'room' would be for? Its number 1 fuse location on the passenger compartment fuse box - but what is 'room'? thats all it says, all the other locations are abreviated as expected but are easy to disipher - any ideas?

Cheers

The output of that fuse goes to terminal 1A of the ECU connector #1, and is the primary power source for the ECU
