Blacktop Zetec Starting Problem
Hi Guys,
I have a 2.0 blacktop in my kit running on standard ECU.
It was running fine up until a while ago.
It appears i have no spark.
The fuel pumps prime, all ignition comes on ok, and engine turns over from the key no problem.
It is fuelling as i have wet plugs, but have no spark.
I have tried replacing the coil and ECU in case of problems here, but has made no difference.
I am now convinced it is a wiring problem, but i'm not really sure what to look for.
Again everything else seems to be working fine and i'm getting no error messages on the ECU.
I guess check live feeds to the ECU and earths, but any ideas other than this?
Thanks in advance.
Andy

Could be crank position sensor

Would that not give an ECU error code?
Also do you know where it is? Can't seem to find out from google...

Its the sensor in the block just above the starter motor

Are you getting any RPM signal? If not that very often points to a faulty Crankshaft Position Sensor.

+1 for crank sensor doesn't always bring up a error code if you can see live data on a laptop or dia tool check for engine revs

Also check for a feed to the middle wire of the coil pack

Yep, check the middle wire is live and doesn't drop out during cranking.

cheers guys,
will go have a look....
Out of interest, if i have no live signal on the middle pin to the coil, would this normally point to a live feed problem?

Iif no power check the other end at the ecu for continuity
Could be a broken wire , usually where it meets the plug

Normally the coil pack and injectors share the same live feed, check both for 12v and check continuity between them.
