Fuel Gauge and sender matching
Hi all
Ive been running without a working fuel gauge for nearly 2 years now, which makes it a bit of a gamble to go long distances.
I used to have an acewell digidash and down graded to more traditional gauges. I need to know if anyone knows what sender I need or the spec of the
sender for this gauge. (the old mk2 cortina ones)

There is an easy way to tell what you want. But a 0-200 ohm pot from Maplin. Wire the lot in series (except one end of the pot) and the rotation of
the pot will tell you the tank sensor by measuring the resistance change on a cheap Maplin ohm meter.
The tank sensors can be measured with an ohm meter also.

Fuel ohms
US 240 empty 33 full
Euro 10 empty 180 full
US GM 0 90
US Ford 0 73
My fuel sender was an old Ford one presumably from a Sierra as it worked with Sierra dash but when fitted to a Telemetrix ran backwards and out of
range both ends.

Fuel gauges work in conjunction with a voltage reducer.
(often attached to the speedo)

What fuel sender are you using? For matching mismatched/reversed sensors have a look at a Fuel Gauge aWizard or do a search on here, it was covered
very recently
