colour codes "wiring"

Last week i came across a detailed list of the standard colour coding of a wiring loom as used on british cars untill the mid to late eighties showing all main/auxillary/component consumer colours and all main feeder power colours. If this is of intrest to anyone i will try and post it up on here. I may help you distinguish any one wire in a loom . regards martin

Hi,
There is a British Standard (can't remember the BS number) but it is published in one of the Haynes manuals I have at home. I can't recall the exact name of the manual but it is the one which covers automotive electrical systems and can usually be found in Halfords.

I have tried to stick to this for my own loom but it is quite hard and seems open to some degree of interpretation. The Rover 214 seems to adhere quite closely to the BS standard so I use the Haynes manual for it when in doubt.

I'm sure there are people out there who would appreciate a copy of the document you have.

Cheers,
Craig.
