Zetec loom help

I'm in the proses of replacing my 2.0 pinto with a 2.0 zetec, I've got a complete early mk1 mondeo with the 3 plug loom and dewy ecu. does anyone have any tips or can point me in the right direction as to what has to be connected up as wiring was never my strong point. was told its about 7 wires to join or something like that? cheers.

15 years since I did a pre pats loom so I am very rusty.

The reasons I don't use them is the latter ecu's have Obd2 diagnostics. I cant remember what the pins in the three plugs go to but with the pin out data it wont take much working out.

There will be powers and earths and a tacho signal ect.

As far as I remember there where three 2.0 pre pats Mondeo ecu's and they where wired the same but some models had extra for trip computers and cruse control. Desk Deep Dewy.

90% there, I think anyway! I've labeled up all of the tails coming out the loom but there's a few that I'm not sure on eg the speed sensor (isn't this part of the engine bay loom) and the coil+ (does it go to an ignition relay?) Cheers guys

First plug, pin 3 the black/blue wire is the fuel pum relay switched earth.

Second plug, pin 3 purple/black is the monitor.

Got it, and the coil+, alternator and speed sensor where the others that had me puzzled as I though they where contained in the main loom? And I do t see why they have wires leaving the loom unless there's relays?

Coil + is just the power supply to the centre pin of the coil.

The ecu sees the speed signal from the gear box as well as the dash.

The alarm unit acted as the I mobilizer on pre pats by cutting earth paths. That's why there is lots of them and some looped from one plug thought the alarm and back to another plug.

There are multi power supply's as different things came of different fusses.

Yes you can use or ditch the Vss. You can ditch the canister purge or add a dummy load. Ditch the ac.

Ah that makes sense now, I was gonna a run the vss If it'll fit in the t9 I have, the carbon canister ill ditch along with ac, egr I assume will be ok unplugged, and pin 2 on the first plug is for alternator light then? Will attack it again tomorrow successfully hopfully

Yeh there is no smart charge on the pre pats so it's simply a charge light.

A smart charge alternator has a three pin plug as well as the battery cable.
