Crank Sensor Connection?

Here we go again!

Still trying to finish soldering joints between existing loom and the Nodiz plug. Where should the crank sensor wiring shield be connected?

Guys, thanks for your replies. I had expected that the shield part of the Nodiz sensor cable woulkd have to go to earth - but where? The Ford wiring sensor connector plug doesn't allow for an earth.

So, to connect back to the ecu would leave some of the cable unshielded, which seems contrary to the Nodiz installation guide.

Coozer - The Ford coil pack has only 3 wires, none of which provide an earth. By "edis", are you referring to the Ford module? E.g. as in http://www.locostbuilders.co.uk/forum/34/viewthread.php?tid=203155

It is normally should only connected at ONE end the reason for this is you have a main engine earth cable problem all the starter current will try to flow through it.

Altough the sensor outputs an AC signal sensor also has polarity.

ISTR the coil pack earths through the case mounting.

Clarification from Alex at M-E.

"The shielding only connects to the Nodiz side. The sensor side is to be left unconnected."

That confirms it. No earth necessary, just keep the shield as close as possible to the sensor connector. And 1 step closer to finishing the electrics.
