Zetec using loom from donor car
I am sure it may have been covered here before but I am not able to find it BUT can someone help me with my loom issue.
I am installing a blacktop zetec but as i am on a real budget I am looking at using a ford loom. If this is possible to strip back a loom from a donor
car whats the procedure or how can it be done and whats the best car to get the loom and eco from?
Thanks for your help. Please go easy its my first build

I would go straight for the 2.0l if you can and nit done it myself but suspect going for the most basic model will help. That said I suspect ford use
the same loom whether it is a base of a ghia, they just don't plug in the bits not needed. Are you going to be using the clocks, if so you will
need to sort out the warning lights (abs/airbag) as any warning light is an mot failure. There is a "how to" thread on here somewhere.

When i did it with a 2.0 blacktop, i used a very basic mondeo.
It was a dash out job, but started from the ECU and just stripped back the whole lot, just chopped off where it met useless stuff like indicators
etc.
Then a case of stripping down the loom. If i'm honest, i didn't get rid of everything from mine or the excess wire.
As stated, big_wasa has a wealth of knowledge and there's a good how to on here somewhere "How to OEM zetec" or something like that.

Im doing this at the moment. I bought a complete Mondeo 2.0 donor and took the loom, engine, PATS and have both keys. Big Wasa and Turnipfarmer have
been a massive help.
This is Warrens thread, its in the Fuel Injection Section of this forum as a 'sticky'

I have fitted the 60 pin Focus ecu to my project car... most of the info you need is here on the locost site, but if you read my posts on the Dutton
forums i go into a fair bit of detail on how everything fits together..
here is a link to where the wiring starts to get sorted.
