Sealed connector for headlights
Another connectors question....
I need a 5 way sealed connector for my wiring loom to allow the bonnet to be removed from the car. The connector carries wiring to the front
headlights, indicators and sidelights.
Each headlights draws around 5A, but they are on a common supply fused at 15A..... Most of the sealed connector series which area readily available
are rated for 10A continuous (econo seal / super seal), so they'd be fine under normal conditions, but if there was a short at one of the
headlights, they'd be subjected to a short overload until the fuse blows....
Reckon this will be alright, or should I be looking into another connector series? Delhi metri pack 280 connectors can take over 20A per terminal, but
they're a bit harder to get hold of.

AMP Superseal are 14A at 24V, unless your really took 15A all the time I can't see that being a problem. The other option if you are still
worried is to use more pins in parallel, not always ideal but done neatly it should be fine. Also remember if you are wiring it to take 15A on the
positive wire the matching earth will need the same capacity

Why not use two pins for the 15A supply in parallel and then you still have the 4 that you need?
What about a 6-way 10A sealed connector....parallel should be fine

Thanks for the suggestions. Just found some Molex MX150 connectors which are rated to 20A per terminal and are cheaper than AMP econo/super seal
(which are really expensive if you buy them in small quantities!)

Change your bulbs to led and use the cheaper connectors as the current draw is tiny
