Caravan Battery
Just thinking about using my caravan battery when firing up the car just to save the bike battery and was wondering if there is any reason why this is
not a good idea, can't see it's any different to a jump start but wondered what others thought.
ta,
Rich.

Not a good idea, as they are designed to be used in a different way.
A car battery is designed to spend most of its life fully charged, with occasional discharges at very high current (starting), then fairly rapid
recharge back up again.
A caravan battery is designed to allow continuous discharge at modest currents right down to a fully discharged state without damage. They are not
capable of supplying 200-300 Amps for short bursts.
It would be better to get a cheap-and-cheerful car battery from your local motor factors, or even a battery in good nick from a scrappy (e.g. from a
newish car that's been shunted - not rolled! )
