Cable ties and SVA
I am just securing all the wiring and wherever I can I am riveting the cable tie anchors in place and then using a tie through them, these are
great.
The problem I have is that I am securing the wiring underneath the engine cradle top tubes but can't get the drill in there to drill a hole for
the rivet.
I was thinking of using the stick on cable tie anchors here only but wondered whether they would be ok for SVA.
I am guessing they should be ok as they obviously can't actually be seen and as all the others are riveted on he will assume they are too!
Any other ideas welcome!!

I don't think the stick on ones stay stuck for very long.
Could you drill the tube from the top right through? You could then rivet on your clips and fill the top hole with another rivet to seal/tidy it
up.

If you can get right round the tube then use a normal cable/rip tie. split a short leght of rubber tube, put it over the wires and the riptie round
tube and cradle.
Good as any P-clip.

Both excellent ideas, I have some black rivets so drilling right through may be the way to go and then just put a black rivet in each top hole, should
look farily neat and tidy.

Ripties do look very industrial, cheap and usefull, but very industrial.
Very similar to using duct tape. Not sure if SVA like that though. Certainly not if they have ever watched scrapheap challange.

Dont rely on anything self adhesive passing SVA. They like mechanical fastenings. My father got a sheet full of fail notes just by using self adhesive
cable tie bases. The man at Gosforth also doesnt like the use of insulating tape to wrap the loom!
Ive used convoluted tube as a conduit everywhere in my engine bay and secured with cable ties that have a barbed male bit that secures into drilled
hole.

I used those cable tie holders(great invention) they had stick on pads which make it easier to place the holders before drilling for self tappers or
rivets.
At SVA test the examiner could see the sticky pad and was giving the wires attatched to them a good pull so i cut one of the cable ties to prove to
him they were screwed or riveted,he was happy with that and said he had failed a few cars with stick on pads.
Rich,it looks as if you may well use mitcham for your SVA,if you want when your ready i'll pop down and go over the car with you
