Sierra Stalk Connections

Deal All

Does anyone have a list of the sierra stalk connections and what they do/Should connect to?

I am really struggling to get a Luego loom and a pre '87 column to talk!

Here is what I have;

Washwiper/Lights Stalk;

56 = Brn + Blk - 2 cables, one goes to 56 on other stalk
53-2 = Blk & Grn
58 = Grey - Connected to side lights feed
53c = Blk
31b2 = Brn + Y
W = Blk + Y
30 = Red - Connected to live feed

31b1 = Brn + Wh
53 = Grn
54 = Blk + Violet
53b = Red

Headlights/Indicators stalk;

L = Blk + Wh - Connected to LH Ind.
49a = Blk + Wh - Connected to relay input
54 = Blk - Connected to Switched supply
R = Blk + Grn - Connected to RH Ind.
H30 = Red - Connected to permenant supply
49 = Blk + Red - Output to relay

15 = Brn - Permenant Supply
56a = Brn + Y - Main Beam
56b = Brn + Wh - Dip Beam
56 = Brn + Blk - Connected to 56 on other stalk

Headlights and sidelights seem to be working as relays are tripping ok, no lights to test yet.

Indicators don't work unless Hazard switch is pressed, and then it trips the relay permenantly so they don't flash.

I have no idea on the wipers & washers!

Please help I am stuck and the luego instructions give me nothing.

Cheers Ben

According to mine

15 should be black(switched live). Brown is earth on the ford loom. 31 should be earth(brown). You're on your own with wipers, I don't have any.

yours, Pete

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

Pete

These cables are exactly as fitted to my column and identified by looking at the markings on the stalks so they must be correct, I know ford did change colours at will so that must be why we have differeent.

Any one else any ideas??

I`m surprised that you can`t get more help from Luego, as they supplied the loom, so must know all about it. They even do an optional relay pack for the Sierra switches, they must be experts?

I am at this stage with mine and puzzling over them with a Haynes and a meter again tonight. I need to know what the internals of the switches do so I can connect to a Fireblade loom. If I make any progress i`ll let you know

There are two types of witing for the light switches, and it depends on the switches.

I think the numbers are 83 and 87 for the switches. I am not totally sure as I am not that far on, but have read about it.

I think its earth or Live switching to the lights, and this is where the relays come in.

Best Search the net a bit.
Try Premier Wirings site for starters.

Hi BMF

Looking at your indicator wiring.... may be a typo but 49 is feed to relay and 49a relay output.
the only thing I see different between yours and mine is you do not seem to have an earth wire at indicator sw.
Hope this helps. John

I have the Luego relay pack, which appears to be only bit that works.

The manual with the loom just tells you the colour and what it is not what terminals etc it should connect to!

This is the most important bit, so how do I find it?

Have spent ages with a circuit tester and no success!

I think i`ve worked it out?
I`m also quite sure there are more than just the 2 wiring scemes used.
These are wahet I reckon the connextions do. In particular you seem to be missing the first one and also hornet and Petefs comments seem true to.
If anyone else can add to this or spots any mistakes thats fine too, it would be nice to nail it down once and for all

Washwiper/Lights Stalk;

15 Missing?! Switched feed for Headlights
56 = Brn + Blk - 2 cables, one goes to 56 on other stalk (S54)
53-2 = Blk & Grn To wiper relay
58 = Grey - Connected to side lights feed
53c = Blk Washer push
31b2 = Brn + Y Intermittent wipe from relay
W = Blk + Y (31?) GROUND
30 = Red - Connected to live fed from ignition switch

31b1 = Brn + Wh Live feed from ignition
53 = Grn To wiper motor
54 = Blk + Violet (S54?) Wiper motorFeed
53b = Red Wiper motorFeed

Headlights/Indicators stalk;

L = Blk + Wh - Connected to LH Ind.
49a = Blk + Wh - Connected to relay Flashing feed FROM f;lasher
54 = Blk - Connected to Switched supply
R = Blk + Grn - Connected to RH Ind.
H30 = Red - Connected to permenant supply Feeds hazards and horn with Ign off
49 = Blk + Red – feed TO flasher relay switched from 54 in normal pos

15 = Brn - Permenant Supply (31?) headlamp flash to 56a
56a = Brn + Y - Main Beam
56b = Brn + Wh - Dip Beam
56 = Brn + Blk - Connected to 56 on other stalk Power from light switch

Cheers and good luck
Colin

Anything with a brown on a Ford loom is usually an earth. The Bn/Y and Bn/W are from the earth terminals on the lighting relays. On the early switches I used the 56 to S54 connection is a Bk/W and the 15 terminals on both sides are connected to ignition switched live.
