VW Rad Thermo Switch

Im using a Polo rad and got a thermo switch for the fan from a Golf, there is 3 spades on the switch. At a guess i would say the two outer ones are to switch the fan, but im not sure. Can anyone shed some light on which ones im meant to wire up and what the 3rd one is for?

Thanks

Its a two stage switch. The donor system is designed to work with a two speed fan. The temp rises to the first switch point, and the fan comes on at slow speed. If temp continues to rise, the second circuit comes on, and the fan speeds up.

I only have a single speed fan on my car, and use the outer pair of contacts to switch it, which works fine.

I've never investigated the exact switch points, or the connections in the switch. If you need to, you should be able to do that with a kettle, a multimeter, and some patience though

Cheers
Richard
