Ford relays for Premier Wiring loom
My Premier Wiring loom is a modified Sierra type and I'm fitting it to a 1300xflow. I have three plugs for three relays (I think that's
what they're for).
I think one is for the lights, no idea what the other two are for. Are these plugs for standard Ford relays?
What do I need to ask for at my local autoparts shop?
I'll also need a flasher unit for the indicators I guess an Escort one will do the job but I've no idea which wires to connect to it.
Can anyone shed some light?
Does anyone know what I'm talking about?
Cheers
Jon

Just on the cash front, I think you should avoid the motorfactors if possible.
I would think there are plenty of folk here, and nearer you than I am, that having broken a Sierra for parts, have relays coming out of their
ears...................

Relays in the Premier loom are (from memory):
Flasher unit (tall Black often missed when breaking your sierra as it is hidden under the dash somewhere - I missed mine!)
wiper intermittent relay (red tall)
headlamp main beam
Head lamp dip beam
Oops that's 4
I'm sure it said what they were in the instructions for mine - have you got those?

Basically agree with mookaloid, but don't remember one for the wipers. Definitely one for Main beam, one for dip beam and one for flashers.

That makes sense because that corresponds with the wire colours goiing to the relay holders.
I haven't got wipers anyway.
Yes I have the instructions but it doesn't mention which type of relays.
Will any Ford items do or does it have to be Sierra or Escort?
Many thanks guys for your help.

Get your relays from any scrap motor as they SHOULD be the same pin configuration. Be aware though that some manufacturers do have different pin
configurations.

I pulled some lovely looking Bosch ones out of a 7-series at the scrappy.
Certainly appear to be same pin outs as the Sierra although haven't fired the loom up yet!
As for the Sierra Hazard switch- even with the clip trimmed off it's slightly wider than the relay mount supplied with the loom so it
doesn't fit if you have the mounts fitted together as they should be!
Cheers,
James
