Rev limiter

I've suggested to my wife that she would really like to buy me a rev limiter for my imminent birthday...

I like the look of the Omex Speed System one - it's the one with a change light. Trouble is, I've seen an astonishing range of prices for these beasts - anyone recommend a reliable but cheap supplier of such items? I found ACT Performance Products to be the cheapest so far, but I've never heard of them before - anyone got any experience of them?

cheers,
David

Why not upgrade to a Megajolt and gain a rev limiter , shift light and mappable ignition?.It has made a big difference to the running of my car and the shift light is very usefull when driving fast and ignoring the rev counter.I regularly used to bounce the valves on mine but the megajolt has a built in soft rev limiter plus a hard cut and a shift light output ,plus 4 other programmable outputs that could be used as rpm indicators.
The hardest part was fitting a crank sensor and making a new crank pulley with a timing ring. The total cost is about the same as a commercial rev limiter and shift light.

'Cos I've had enough fiddling around with the car, and just want to get out there and drive it!

I have an Omex speed system fitted. Beautiful soft cut and the single red LED is OK by day but frightens the **** out of me at night when it comes on. Very easy to fit and set up. Bought mine from Demon Thieves. Couldn't be bothered with fussing to save £5.

I have one further query... the Omex rev limiter says that it won't work on CDI ignition systems. I have a x-flow with a Bosch points-free dizzy from a Valencia engine - is that CDI, or not?

I believe that it's just an electronic replacement for points, but it did require a coil change before it worked properly. I'd hate to fry the rev limiter 'cos I got it wrong!

cheers,
David

david yours isn't a cdi (capacitor discharge ignition)

most cdi systems are bike types the ford type tends to be inductive hall effect pickups so you should be ok
