MOT question.

Ok slightly off topic as this is not a lococst query... but...

Does anyone know if these headlight tinting kits will be a problem at MOT time?

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/RED-NEON-LED-BULB-HEADLIGHT-TINTING-KIT_W0QQitemZ7913386237QQcategoryZ23009QQssPageNameZWD1VQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

They are connected in place of sidelights so instead of the standard white sidelights coming on these do instead.

Who the f**K tightened this up!

You can get LED bulbs that fit straight into the "501?" style bullb holders,
Then you just swap them back for MOT time.

Red lights to the front of the car is a no no. Only white or amber should show to the front and red and amber to the rear except reversing light. It's not only a problem for MOT it's also a traffic violation so you could get pulled for it.

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

I've got something similar to the item suggested and its never caused a problem.

When parked the headlights glow with the colour (only 10watt?) bulb and when the sidelights or headlights are on they drown out the colour so you don't even notice its there.

This is on a setup where the colour would be described as a parking light? i.e there coloured when there's no keys in and then when the ignition comes on a filament of the main headlight comes on (dip beam?) and then when you turn the lights on another filament comes in to provide normal driving headlights

Why bother with this then?

You can get LED bulbs that fit straight into the "501?" style bullb holders,
Then you just swap them back for MOT time.
If they test your sidelights with the ignition off and they show red to the front they will fail MOT.

Yery definite instant failure --- as well as being against the road traffic acts, type approval and common sense.

Fit them go out at night and just see how quickly you get pulled over.
