VDO rev counter set up

Trying to get my rev counter tunning on a V6 essex engine and cant work out how the switches on the the back should go. I know the thing works and i have the right wires in the right places, just the switches are wrong. Anyone know how they go (three little black switches) or anywhere i can find out?

my westy manual doesn't give 6 cyl option but the 4/8 cyl should be (looking at the rear of the gauge from left to right)
4 cyl - up, down, down
8 cyl - up, up, down OR up, up, up

Might be worth a go !

oops just found the instructions that came with my gauge set and it says 6cyl should be up , down , up - looking at the rear of the gauge - left to right !

I presume you are using a petrol engine as they are different for a diesel !

Thank you! Wont try it till another day as the engine is a bit loud but yes its petrol so im assuming that should work. If not theres only 6 or so combinations. Cheers again, Jon
