Sierra Ignition Switch
Hi all,
Ive managed to accumulate 3 different switches, all of which have different colours. The one Im using has the following:
Terminal 50 - Black/Blue
Terminal 30 - Red
Terminal 15 - Black
Terminal R - Yellow
I think theyre supposed to be:
Terminal 50 - Start
Terminal 30 - Power
Terminal 15 - Ignition
However I cant find anything for the Yellow cable on Terminal R. Haynes just show it dissapearing to nothing.
There is continuity between it and the Power and Ignition at their respective selections, but not between it and start when the key is turned
fully.
Anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks
Richie

Its the 'Accessory' position, i.e. the first click of the switch, next position being ignition, then the sring loaded start position.

Update
Just plugged them all up and applied power to the loom. It seems:
Blue/Black - Live at 3rd pos
Red - Perm Live
Black - Live in Ign only
Yellow - Live in Acc and Ign pos
Is it safe to assume then that:
Terminal 50 - Black/Blue - Start
Terminal 30 - Red - Perm Live
Terminal 15 - Black - Ignition
Terminal R - Yellow - Acc
This doesnt bear much resemblance to Haynes but it supports what Flak Monkey is saying
Thanks
Rich

Yeh, deffinately an accessory terminal....so remember that when turning the engine over (on starter) it will not be live so don't attach an ECU
or equivalent to it as the car will not start! Guess how I knew that one.....HTH Oli.
If your not living life on the edge you're taking up too much room!

Usualy for a radio, hence being tagged R rather than a number!

The idea of it is to help take any unnessasery load of the battery during starting.
On some cars it is refered to as Ing 2 and powers stuff like the heaters and wipers as well hence why on some cars everything stops during starting.
