Alternator Charge Light
When i connect the switched live to the terminal marked F on my mitsibushi colt alternator, i get a nice 13.9v voltage across the battery. But if i
connect it up with the charge light in series the light comes on but the alternator doesnt work.
There is 3 more spade connects on the back on the alternator, could one of these be for the charge light?
For some reason i thought the charge light went in series with the 12v switched feed for the alternator.
Also when active the alternator squeeks, not much, just a bit annoying, whats likely to need greasing?
Cheers

First, an ign live to your indicator lamp. From the lamp to the terminal on the back of your alternator that is an earth when the engine is not
running and becomes a positive live when the engine is running.
Does that make sense?
Take a tester and connect it between earth and a terminal on the back of the alternator with the engine off it should give 0v. When the engine is
running (not just ign on), this terminal should give you 12-13v.
You could just use a 12v lamp.

Ok i see how it works now, i was wondering what made the lamp turn off when the alternator was running.
Just got to find the terminal that changes now, i have a feeling i know which it is.

If it's a battery sensing alternator you may still need a direct ign feed to the appropriate terminal.
