LEDs for sidelights?
I am thinking about fitting white LEDs behind my sealed beam units to act as sidelights....has anyone done this before?
Is it SVA legal?

No reason why you shouldn't use leds as long as they are bright enough (most are not) I've used leds for every light on the car except
headlights. At one stage during testing I had all the lights lit up with one PP3 battery!
I have a feeling you will have to drill your reflector to insert them into a non-sidelight headlamp - that might be tricky but feasible.

I have sealed beam units with a small window at the back designed to take some kind of sidelight bulb I assume....
Will have to look for some super bright ones...

The main problem with leds is the narrow angle of the beam - try to find ones with diffused lenses as they will probably suit your application. You
can probably glue them to the back of the 'window' as they will probably out-live the car

Maplins carry an extensive range of LED's, worth giving them a look, if you have a store near you. Alternatively you could get there catalogue.
