smaller car battery
when I bought my kit, the man put a new battery in, quite a big one - I'm thinking of fitting the base clamps and would like a smaller
battery.
Any locost ones anyone know of that are smaller? What sort of Ah would I need?
Needs to start a 1300 crossflow.
I notice mines has 085, now same brand 063 or 065 = 55 Ah and 075 = 60 Ah os guessing mine is ~70 Ah (oh, and this brand is cheap - well why those
that not surprise me?)
Just thought - what about a motorcyle battery?

It depends on your budget really - you can go really small and get one of the racing batteries from
here - even the smallest will give enough cranking current to start a 3 litre!

what sort of price? .... but I notice they don't have any triangular bits on the base to use those angled clamps.
what car would have the smallest battery - mini/micra?

Easiest thing is to go into halfrauds, they have all their batteries out on the shelf, and pick the size/shape you want. Then look in the little
book to find which car(s) it's supposed to fit. Depending on how lazy you're feeling you could even just buy that one 
Motorbike batteries don't have to deal with as many lights as car batteries so might be marginal - maybe a goldwing battery would work 
Mini batteries aren't particularly small since they have to push power the length of the car. Something like a micra should do nicely I'd
imagine.

honda crx/civic batteries are smaller than most car bateries i have seen, but maybe a little taller.

If memory serves me right, try looking up one for a Reliant Robin.

Hi don't bother with the red top racing batteries as they need a certain trickel charger to charge them even most racers dont use them these
days . What you want is a oddesey PC625 snow mobile battery these have better cranking than the race ones weigh almost the same (redtop 5kg) ( PC625
5.5kg.) They are also a dry type non spillable .
And the best bit is they are cheaper £65 from powervamp. I think that MNR had a deal going on these About a month or so ago.

Like my PC680 (the 625 is even smaller) Powervamp do them for around £65 IIRC and it will start a 5.7 litre Chevy enging!

yeah, halford or motor factor for a shufty in the catalogue (need to measure mine up first so I don't get the same size - doh! )

What about a smart? presumably they have smallish batteries.

looked thru car batteries; none are smaller than mine.
bike batteries 90 A = £ 20;
ATV 180 A = 30 A
lawnmower 200 A = £ 34
don't think bike will have the oompf for starting so ATV or lawnmower.

I'd listen to what Procomp is saying.
You won't spend that little saving weight anywhere else (other than a strict diet!)... think of it as a cheap power upgrade!

another vote for an oddessey from powervamp. It has no problem at all with a 1600xflow in my westfield......
the mounting bracket was from powervamp for about £15 iirc.
