Lucas wiper motor - have I killed it?
Hi all,
was wiring this evening, and got the wipers to work (standard Lucus motor), but slow was fast and fast was slow - so switched the wires round,
unfortunately switched round the wrong wires, so had the 'fast' wire onto the 'park' terminal - switched the ignition on,
there was a click and the now the thing won't work at all.....
Have I killed it? (fuse is OK) Any suggestions for resuscitation? My thought is the microswitch has been killed... bit disappointed that just
switching the wires round wrong has knackered it!

A\bit obvious but what happens when you put them back, I would have thought ther would have been the blinding flash and funny smell if you had f**ked

Yep - all back how it should be - but nowt....
It'll be a pig of a job to get the motor out again as well..

Double check the fuse, or just change it anyway.

Steve, you are a wise man - I'd labelled the fuses wrong! The one labelled heater had blown and a quick switch and all is well in wiper land!
I'll go and feel stupid now shall I! Thanks....

I doubt you an kill the motor - it has to be the fuse. the park feature is mysterious in that is supplies power to the switch thatthen goes to the
motor until the motors parks. I had fun with blowing fuses when I wired it up wrong in my land rovers - debugged it eventually by using bits of wire
from mains cable as a few until I could get my brain around the mysterious wirings.
