Road Angel in bec problem??
Had a cable hard wired for my road angel into the MK yesterday and have a problem that it keeps flashing up that there is a mobile laser which there
is'nt. It flashes the warning as soon as the engine is running just wondered what might be happening - the speedo part works great!! but
don't need the continuous laser warning...........

I had the same problem when I tried my GF's in my TVR.
I gave up but suspected it was something to do with the alarm.
Summer's here!!!!

Could it be picking up interference from the ecu? Maybe shielding the cable would help

Any wire which might act as an aerial or transmitter of radio frequency signals needs to have a grounded outer sheath (like co-axial cable) to prevent
interference or crosstalk.
I am not sure how the unit is triggered but I would imagine that microwave radio signals would be a good bet.

My road angel is fine, but it is the mini one, so may not have all the features of yours. Or I just haven't gone past a radar gun yet!

mines the new angel 2 and it goes off as soon the engine is running (not with just the ignition on) so unless i the police have set up a mobile laser
in the drive i'm a bit stuck to be able to use as it bleeps and flashes most of the time.....a bit annoying

Have you got copper spark plug leads?
If you read the Walkers Workshop feature in the Sept 06 issue of PPC (the one with the black roller on the front - think it's still in
WHSmiths) he has a problem with a Hayabusa generating enough interference to lock up his ECU.
The problem were the stock solid copper leads quote "the worst thing for RF interference going"
The temp fix for mapping was a ford coil and some cheap (presumably carbon) leads.

Mine (a road angel classic) used to flash and bleep about mobile cameras if I pressed the horn button, but only the first time in any one time it was
switched on. I gave up on the laser detector though and I don't have that problem now - it didn't work with the focussed beam from a
mobile camera anyway
