Wiring and Hot Exhaust
I have had little choice but to run the front section of the (escort) loom along the OS upper chassis rail. This gives an air gap between loom and
harness of several inches but looks like it could be a problem.
Anyone encountered this and if so should I insulate the exhaust, knock up a heat shield, or both?

You could wrap the exposed loom in ceramic cloth if you think it will be too hot. CBS stock it at £22 per sq mt - good stuff.

on a crossflow (ie wiring running ns) i've heard of people melting the insulation and causing shorts. An ali shield sorted out the problem.

I ran my esort loom wiring up the diagonal under the exhaust. Keeps it a bit further away, and shouldnt be a problem. If the wiring was above it it
would be more of a concern (heat rises!). As has been mentioned you could wrap it in heat reflective cloth if you wish.
