Sharing ECU maps

Now this may not appeal to the ones who race, but many of us have very similar engine specs and the ability to download maps for similar spec engines would save a lot of time, does an existing list already exist? if not is there interest in setting one up??

Even if people are using different ECU's the reference points will still be very close.

I'm always interested in how other people have set their cars up and I am more than willing to share my ECU maps / carb settings etc. Just a case of how it could be done.

I would happily share the MJ maps I have for a Pinto and will share those I create for the Zetec/MS once it is up and running.

A good idea as I see lots of posts on forums requesting maps for various installs.

Anybody is welcome to share my maps, although I didn't realise that you could use the files on different ECUs.

Cheers,

My understanding is that you can share the data between different ECU's as long as you can maually input the data, i.e. it doesn't matter on the make of ECU as its all about X revs = Y advance etc.... after all they are just reference points, a bit like a look up table in Excel

An area on the site where we can each save maps would be ideal, anyone got a suggestion of the exact how? is there an easy way to output maps into excel???

To some extent yes, but i'd imagine it'll turn out to be nowhere near as simple as that. For example advance figures in the table could be an actual advance, or an value added to the base advance set by the dizzy position or elsewhere in the software. Fuelling will be even more variable, you can use injector pulsewidths, VE, a variant of it such as MS's VE*AFR, or even something totally arbitrary (i.e. just a number) that the ecu uses to work out pulsewidths with later. Translating these from one ecu/format to another isn't going to be trivial in some cases
