Fireblade (919) Speedo Feed/Pick Up/Take Off ------> 893
Hi all, (if this is in the wrong area, could someone please tell me the best one? cheers)
I am (once again) in need of help from the people on this forum.
I am trying to figure out where to take the actual drive for the speedo - I still have the speed sensor attached to my loom (it's the bit that
used to spin round with the bolt in the centre of the front sprocket), but obviously that is no longer possible since it's now in a car and the
propshaft covers it.
I have spoken to (hellfire) Phil, and looked at the photos on their website, about how they converted the plastic (nut shaped) end into a wheel that
runs on one of the drivshafts... (which I was grateful for!)
I just wondered whether there was a simpler or (dare I say it) better method that anyone else may have used?
For the rest of the system I am using age correct Blade clocks in conjunction with a speedo healer...

Though I think you will find 919 did not have the wheel you are talking about, only the very early 893 so have you got a loom mismatch?

that is a possibility, but I bought the engine and loom out of a crashed bike I could see in front of me at the time, and all the wiring looks
standard to me, but obviously I could be wrong!
I'll have a look through that earlier post, thanks for replying with it...

edit to add - the link that you sent was (I think) mostly for the later type spec post '98, I have a 919 RRT so it is correct to have the
plastic (nut) wheel on the end - so does anyone else have any suggestions other than the same way hellfire did their's???

my 919 also has a senso like the one in the other posts, i made a star shped disc and bolted it between the prop adaptor and prop flange, thing ive a
spare one. Then used the speedo healer to adjust.
WILL HAVE A LOOK AND TAKE A PICTURE OF THE STA THINGY..

I really appreciate people responding on this forum, but would appreciate it a lot more if it was relevant to my initial post, I don't mean to
cause offence when I say this, but I stated quite clearly that I had spoken to Phil of team hellfire, and was greatly appreciative of his help and
offer of future help, I had also previously read his entire website, which I also really enjoyed and sourced a lot of basic (basic in my head - not
info given!) knowledge.
I did however also ask in my first post, if anyone esle out there had done it a different way? I just wondered - thats all!!
So, has anyone done this a different way? Or have any suggestions?

I'll be using the standard 919 sensor which is IN the gearbox housing (by the starter motor) to drive mine.

Hi fbi,
Even though yours is still a 919, if it takes the drive from within the gearbox, I think it is different to mine, as the photo above should show?
Mine was driven on the bike with the bolt in the centre of the front sprocket - just like an earlier pre98 engine... Which is what I need to find out
about - thanks for giving it a go though!

Your photo looks the same as mine, apart from mines fitted. Never taken mine out so not sure if its exactly the same but externally its the same or
very very similar.

I don't have a choice to take mine out - the prop is now where this was mounted, so although it looks the same externally, I'm sure
it's not - also what year is your 919? as mine seems to have the setup identical to 893's, which was how it was on earlier 919's...
