Indicator Project
Hi
I have a project and wonder if you can help
I have removed my sierra indicator arm from the steering wheel and am looking for an alternative solution
I would like to use buttons (LH and RH), and once pressed the indicator comes on for a period of say 10 seconds and then turns off automatically.
I would need it to also cope with a hazard switch too.
Anyone got a neat solution for this?
Thanks

my soloution is a 3 way toggle switch, as non cancelling is not an mot failure, tho im not sure of the SVA

Self cancelling is not an sva requirement.
You can buy self cancelling indicator relays for motor bikes that will do the job.

Don't like the idea of automatic 10 sec flashing (ooerr missus) at all. In real life, I sometimes give a couple of quick flashes to change
lanes, sometimes the normal as long as it takes to complete the turn, sometimes the 2-3 minutes it takes for the guy doing 50 mph in lane 3 to notice
that I would quite like to pass.
What happens if you inadvertently indicate the wrong direction? Does it flash wrong for 10 secs before you can change it ?
A fixed 10 secs is too inflexible. I guess I just like to be in control.

You can still cancell the indicator manually. The timer just cancels for you if you forget to do it yourself!

Hi
I purchased the dash mount rocker switch and timer module from Westfield. Not low cost at £60 plus delivery !!
Change of plans and I am now using the bike switchgear so haven't used the Westie item.
If anyone is interested, they can have it for £40 posted.
Item is brand new and not fitted (still in plastic bag)
Cheers

Chenti,
I know some builders who can't reach their dash once they're strapped into the car.... so make sure you can before you go this route.
Though can't see why you'd want anything other than a nice, straightforward, easy to reach, reliable, self-cancelling stalk myself!
Cheers,
James

I put a really annoying buzzer on mine, you don't forget that sucker in a hurry
yours, Pete
I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

personally i like the idea on some cars (my dads skoda included) where you flick-to-click and it stays on and will then self cancel or a light flick
produces 3 flashes then turns off.

on off on toggle switch is about £5. Works very well. As Pete says if you find you forget to cancel just fit buzzer (another £5). Job done - nice and
locost and very reliable.

mhhh
problem with seld turn off i see is that your switch could be left downwards without you knowing!!
i think its better to add a timer and AFTER 10sec ocntinous use the buzzer comes on.... less anoying and it still reminds you
