Indicator Position.
Sorry, I've asked this before but I'm more confused now.
I would like to mount my indicators AKA caterham style, under the headlights on the same bracket.
My MNR has a slightly longer nose cone than the Caterham and I was wondering if this causes a problem with the field of view.
Also any advantage of nice big indictaors on the front of the nose cone when it comes to SVA and external protrusions on the front suspension.
Any expert advise would be much appreciated.
Steve

I think these are the current images from the SVA manual.
As long as you can see the lamps from within those angles you should be OK?
Light Angles Side
Light Angles
I guess the only way to tell is to temporary fix the lights with cable ties / tape and then have a wander round the car with a protractor!
Hope that helps.
Cheers

If the nose blocks field of view then mount them higher for SVA & move them afterwards - bear in mind tho' that it's rather a good
idea for people to be able to see them.
I no longer run Furore Products or Furore Cars Ltd, but would still highly recommend them for Acewell dashes, projector headlights, dominator
headlights, indicators, mirrors etc, best prices in the UK! Take a look at http://www.furoreproducts.co.uk/ or find more parts on Ebay, user names
furoreltd & furoreproducts, discounts available for LCB users.
Don't forget Stainless Steel Braided brake hoses, made to your exact requirements in any of around 16 colours.

The headlights only just meet the visibility angles viewed from the side at 45° because the nose cone blocks almost half of the lamp's lense.
Mounting the indicators below this will almost certainly fall foul of SVA rules.
Caterham get away with this by mounting the headlights really high up.

To get round this I made up some indicator spacers (now removed!!)- see
They're basically a length of black 40mm drain pipe with some MDF end pieces at either end (OD same as the indicator light) ID same as drain
pipe....
Glue them in, spray them black jobs a good'un....
Worked for me @ SVA...

Hi BenB,
Hats off to your solution. Clever, simple, cheap and simple to remove. That's what I like about this forum. Loads of creativity!

Is it SVA safe to mount the indicators inside the nosecone so long as it can be seen from those angles? I was going to use the sidelights/indicators
from my donor car but this thread has got me wondering whether the might be too close together.
How long can i resist the temptation to drop a V8 in?

Inside the nosecone is not possible. The indicators have a maximum distance from the sides of the car. I almost failed on that; only 1mm to spare...

Cheers peeps. Worked for me! Even attached the temporary spacer in place using the same layout holes as the indicator so it only took 5 minutes to
unscrew it all and remove the stalk post SVA

Front indicators maximum of 400mm from edge of widest part of the car. (Widest could be outside of your rear wheels)
Minimum separation between left and right indicators is 500 mm.
hope this helps

You could always mount them on top of your front arches (ala original VW Beetle) - to be different.
