Can Thermostatic Switches Fail?
My fan has stopped coming on automatically. I have an overide switch wired in so it's not a problem at the moment, but can thermostatic
switches fail?
And why? What is there to go wrong inside the block of brass?
I have a Ford switch in my rad that controls the fan (no relay).
Cheers
Mike

They are always going wrong, usually when you disturb them (I work in a bodyshop - always changing rads). We change VAG ones as a matter of course on
any car over 5 years.
If you can keep you head, whilst all others around you are losing theirs, you are not fully aware of the situation

are your water levels okay? if you're running low on water you may get no flow past the stat, therefore no temperature for it to switch.

Fan switches go all the time. Fit a new one and wire a relay in so theres less load on the switch..
