R1 wiring loom fault code question
hi
my old car now has a KOSO dash fitted as opossed to the R1 clocks.
when the r1 clocks were in we shorted out the fuel sender wire(as it didnt have one)
this got rid of the fault code tacho going up to 8krpm
but the only thing thats been done is the r1 clocks removed
and the koso uses the original tacho wire from ecu
its now sending the fault code down the koso clocks even though the bypass is still in place
there obviously needs to be a circuit completed in the original wiring loom for the r1 clocks
weve tried touchin the wire to earth but nothing
any ideas

I don't know if earlier engines are the same but '04 on fuel level sensor reads from 20-140 ohms. If the readings outside that it could
trigger a code. Try a resistor in between the wires (green/white to black). Might work but dosen't explain why you didn't have a code
before and you do now.

the car already had the trik in the wire to fool it and still has,, however since we have took out the r1 clocks its sending it to the new clocks as
if something in the clocks completed the circuit?

hi this is something to do with us unplugging the original clocks out. The loom isnt happy with something and as were using the original tacho wire
for the clocks, its sending the the pulse down the wire to give the fault code
?/?

Hi,
If you can pick up a good enough tacho signal from elsewhere you will not have a fault code.
Thanks Chris

I think youll find if the tacho is going from 0>7k and 0>8k that there are 2 seperate fault codes, and they cycle through the monitoring in
ascending order.
0>7k = EXUP - 1. improper connection/short circuit 2. Servomotor is locked.
0>8k = Fuel Level - 1. Improper conection.
Hope this helps.
