zetec bike carbs
hi all i just joined and this place is amazing!!! just so many things i never knew about exsist on these pages!
~My question is this: i just did my 2nd engine conversion to my beloved escort (yes i know boy racer jumps to mind, but the car was cheap and had the
attractions of so many aftermarket parts available because of the RS turbo's but it would have been all too easy to go for a straight rs turb
cvh engine swap so i went for a zetec one this time. its currently running on standard system but i miss the carb sound that i had on my old xr cvh
engine.....
seems to me that the thing to do is to use a megajolt system or something similar and use bike carbs, dont know muchabout bikes though, im a range
rover mechanic trainee at the moment so i dont see much on the carb side at work, so carbs from which bike would be best to use? would it matter if i
used carbs from a bike that is less than 1000cc? can i just jet them to suit the 1.8 ford lump or is there a particular bike set up i should be
looking for?
many thanks in advance

Use a "%" in between words in the search instead of spaces, it'll return much more info.
Best thing to do is have a search and a read, it's all been done in more depth than someone could answer in a 5 minute reply
But, basically a bike engine is going to rev to 12k or more, that's double what your Zetec will rev to. 2 litres capacity at 6000rpm will shift
(approximately) the same as a 1 litre capacity engine at 12000rpm.
A couple of posters on here can sort you a Megajolt out for a decent price

Or just speak to stephen at Bogg Bros, he is very helpful, if you get the manifold from them he will be only to happy to advise on which carbs to get
and also offers a refurb service to check there ok before fitting.

I tried Bogg Bros, but couldn't only get an answering machine. I left a message but never got a call back.
Makes me a bit wary about sending them my money.

You don't part with any money until your parts are ready. I've just received my manifold and a set of ZZR1100 carbs for a Vx C20XE. It
took a while to get done but it is a work of art.
They are very busy but that is a result of their success in this area

I am in the process of getting a set of R6 carbs/TB's and KNN is doing my manifold. They said they will strip, clean, rejet, space the bodies
and fit to the manifold for a very reasonable price. It takes 28 days though but that's life they say..
Oh, and I am running a 1.8 zetec also...

KNN manifolds did my bike carbs and inlet manifold, and its really good quallity, after fiddeling for a couple of hours to get them on it fired up
after only a few turns, and run beautiful, had few issues with modifying the throttle and had to fit a presure regulator but other then that really
good!
