relay boo boo

I made a boo boo

managed to get the relays which control the fan and the horn wet while changing the radiator. all seemed fine to begin with but at 2am the horn started to sound. I live in flats and the car is under the block. it woke me up on the 4th floor!! i of course closed the window and went back to sleep not realiising that it was my car. someone else went and disconnected the battery. oppps

Anyway! - i need a couple a new relays. I know what one of them is. but the second one (a green ford one) has 5 points on the top. The middle point has nothing connected to it. do i need a ford one or can i get one from maplin (down the road).

Sorry i do not have more info. i am not sure what it connects to as i did not put it in. one point clearly goes to the thermostat, one to the other relay, one to the fan and i am guessing the other to the power. the one which i think goes to the fan and the one which goes to the other relay are bridged.

sorry for the long post.

Any relay will do, the fifth pin mean is is a single pole double throw relay, which means it makes a circuit on the fifth pin when not on and across the other pin when it is on. so if nothing is connected to the fifth pin, then you don't need it.

They should be underneath, that's why the water got in probably.

yours, Pete

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

Pop the covers off and dry them out.
