Xflow water temperature sender?

Hi all,

After my last post about the various eletrical problems I'm having I've managed to fix them all bar the water temp gauge and the speedo.

Today is the turn of the water temp gauge.

I've conducted a few tests including using another gauge, and I think the sender is malfunctioning, or not working atall. It barley gets either of the two gauges I have above 35 /40 celcius, when the thermocuple I've placed in the system is showing 85 /90.

Do these sender fail often? or at all?

is there anything else it could be? I know both gauges work I've tested them.

and am I right in thinking the thread on the xflow is 1/8 NPT?

many thanks

If you earth the wire to the block it should read fullscale, you also need to use a matching voltage regulator for most gauges.did the sender come with the gauges or are you using the original ford one?
it would be worth measuring the resistance of the sender at 20c and 85c and comparing with the gauge spec if you can obtain the info.
Paul.
