temperature sensor for a phase 1 Zetec.

Guys,

On my silver top Zetec I have 2 sensors on the thermostat housing a small one below which I believe is the temp sensor and is connected to the Webber Alpha loom. On top is a much larger sensor with a 22mm thrread. to this I have connected my temp gauge. Unfortunately im getting no reading on the gauge. I have checked the wiring which is fine and if I short the wires the gauge reads fine. I believe this sensor is the fan sensor. Therefore is it digital, ie on or off?

If so shuould I tee my temp gauge wires to the lower sensorwhere the engine management connector is.

Thanks

Ian

The large sensor on top is the ECU sensor and the smaller lower one is for the temp gauge.

replace the sensor with one your gauge understands.

Get a 22mm blank plug from Think Auto and drill and tap it to take the standard gauge sensor.
