R1 Starting Props....Kind of!
Hi All,
Turned the key for the first time today... sort of went well but kinda didn't...lol
Here's my problem.
When i start the car it's firing but the starter motor keeps going. I've used the R1 loom with the sierra ignition. Any idea's
where i've gone wrong??? It's a 2000 R1 and loom.
Any help would be great as it's driving me potty
Cheers

Which wire have you connected to the start wire on the bike loom? The black/blue on the car ignition should be the one from the start position
yours, Pete
I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

The sierra ignition will make the black/blue live when the key is turned to the start position. This is not what the bike loom wants as the start wire
from the bike loom needs to be earthed not supplied with 12v.
Do not connect the wire from the bike loom to the black/blue of the sierra ignition.
With the ignition turned on just touch the start wire to the chassis, this should make the engine turn over and start, if so you need to connect the
start wire to a seperate start button and earth.
This is what I have had to do with my 05 R1. I can't see it being different with a 2000 model.
Edit to say that the start wire on my R1 loom is blue/white. may be the same on yours.
