Locost / Sierra lighting problems
Hi all,
I have a new loom and sierra stalks. I've conected everything as per instructions but must be missing a trick somewhere......
I cant get the headlight main beam to flash - any ideas ? anything I'm missing ?
Also if by accident if the wires were wrong on the stalk, could I damage / melt / blow the stalk switch at all ?
Regards
Peter

Yes. Especially as some of the stalks are designed to be relayed and some aren't (ie some can carry a higher current than others).
Are you getting any voltage to the headlight main beam?
Electrical problems are unfortunately usually solved by tracing through the wiring making sure the voltages you expect to be there are there.... Does
the main beam have it's own fuse? Relay??

There is a separate constant live supply to the flash/dip switch for head light flashing as well as the supply for the side/main/dip for early
switches or separate earths for the later 'earth a relay' type switches.
If you have main and dip present but no flash then it is these extra connectors you have missed. (or you've got a duff switch!)

Is the loom you are using intended to have the flash facility?
I know my Tiger didn't but it is not difficult to put in

not sure if it helps but I was reading on ol kit car magazine and there was some article aboutthe sierra stalks sockets have two diferent wiring
schemes - so my question would be to ensure you have wired up according to the correct scheme.
