Rear light options

OK, I've had my car on the road for nearly 3 years, with hamburger style lights on the back panel (yes, they did get through SVA because I've got narrow rear wings...). I got hold of some Megane Coupe rear lights and cut out the main part with the intention of fitting them in the same place as the existing lights. Now I've got them I think they look a bit big, though it would make a bit of a feature

Another alternative would be to mount them in the rear wings, though I would then have to somehow fix up the holes in the back panel/replace the panel.

Opinions?

Top pic is how it is now
Bottom pic is with the Megane lights dangled in sort of the right place with bits of coat hanger. Rescued attachment Rear light options.JPG

How deep are the light units?
I.E if you were to mount om the wings, is there enough clearance on the inside of the arch to prevent contact with tyres? (Also taking into account suspension travel as they may clear at standstill without you in the car but rub when under load.)

they look better on the wings, but i don't like them... they're too big.
i know its the same as EVERYONE else has done, but individual lights on the wings is the best way to go i'd say.
sorry

hmmm, or see if you can 'hide' them
What i'm planning on doing on my car (post SVA) is to mount the lights behind the bodywork, with a tinted perspex cover with some sort of aluminium surround. they won't be seen until they light up

I think they're too big and out of proportion to the rest of the car.

I agree, they look too big.

Altho if you could pull something off like blake is on about, that might work

OK, I thought they were too big in the first place, I just wanted to get other people's opinion, which seems to be the same

I've just had the jigsaw out and have cut off the outer reflector ring. The centre part is now almost exactly the same diameter as the existing lights. I might see if I can fit them flush with the bodywork which would be neat... they also look a bit more modern than the hamburger ones.

Thanks peeps.
