headlight wiring progress

Evennig all

Right in from work, tried earthing the wires from the column for dipped and full and lights came on both times, telling me that the column switch earths.

So hunted around on the right side of the column on the side as the side light/dipped lights on switch and found an earth that wasn't made in a jumble of original wiring.

Earthed it and full beam now works off the column switch

However dipped doesn't come on when the column stalk is on two clicks with the ignition on??

So I know the lights and relays work so any ideas on what steps to take next to get the dipped lights on using the column switch??

thanks again for the help and patience helping me out
Nigel

hell this wiring lark is daft, just went back down after posting and put a multimeter across the side light/dipped on switch to read the resistance with it on and off

relay clicked and dipped lights came on. Removed multi meter and put loom back in dash.

Now dipped and full beam work off the stalks!! well happy god knows what was wrong, maybe dirty switch contacts but that's the second time it's happened, the first being the indicators.

I'll check the earths properly tomorow night as they are all original Sierra wiring and getting old and will probably run a new one to be safe.

Just need to sort out the one side light now which is refusing to light. I thought it was the bulb but just checked it and it's fine so the multi meter comes out again tomorrow.

Many thanks everyone for your time and assistance, it's much appreciated.

Till the next wiring problem

Cheers
Nigel
