there's cheaper places to lose weight than with your battery.

i've had a halfords calcium battery in mine for the last 3 1/2 years. it was left completely untouched for 18 months while i rebuilt it and again for 6 months over winter. each time it's started first turn of the key, strong as ever.

it's a round post one to fit a cavalier iirc. HCB063 maybe?

I bought a 12v 48ah sealed for life jobbie for my 2ltr Pinto at a total cost of £33.98 delivered 18 months ago but i understand that due the rise in metal prices etc they are much dearer now though .

If it can be done it i will be done .

but you're still cranking a 2litre engine.

the CCA of the smaller batteries can be about half the medium size ones.

This thread has some information

http://www.locostbuilders.co.uk/viewthread.php?tid=89456

Smallest non specialist battery is an A17 207x175x175 which should be fine.

As ^^^ most batteries are designed for all the toys and gewgaws in modern tintops and are much bigger than we require.

But you won't be doing that in the winter so shouldn't be sawing away for 5mins trying to get a damp ignition to fire.
