Sierra Lights/Wiper switch

Does anybody know the function of the male "Lucar" type connector, which sticks out the top of the RH Sierra column switch assy?

I checked it with a multimeter, and it connects with earth in the "sidelights on" position, but not in any other position. That really baffles me. (N.B. - Earth is on to alloy housing on which switches are mounted.)

Uh - no. The connector "blade" is to the right of the hazard switch (which is part of the LH assy - I think!)

Nah. Horn is switched earth type, so has separate connecting wires.

Why would there be an earth connection only in "sidelights on" position?

Only thing I can think of is maybe front foglights on without main or dipped ?

edit to clarify -

To prevent you having headlights on as well as front foglights. Wire foglight relay through this connector and they will come on only in sidelight position.

Will look at mine tomorrow and see it it gives any clues.

Looking at mine, there is no sign that the connector was ever used. No really an answer to your question "what is it for" but U shouldn't worry about it

That's a much clearer pic. Thanks for all the feedback. I reckon I'll just have to go with the trial and error method, i.e. leave that tab unconnected, and if nothing untoward happens - it stays that way.
