It's 40cm from the widest point of the car which could be the rear wings.

The side of my MK nose cone is 560mm from the widest part of the car i.e the cycle wing. SVA states that indicators must be no more than 400mm from
the widest part. That leaves 160mm and as most bike indicators are approx 100mm long you will only have to extend them by 60mm, easily done with a
piece with of tube with a nut fixed inside. I sure some one will correct me if I'm wrong.

It's tricky to get all the visibility angles correct when mounting them under the headlamps.
Here's what I took to the SVA:
indicators
It was a close thing but they did pass, despite the tester measuring VERY carefully!
Don't forget that it's 400mm from the very widest part of the car - (often the rear wings) to the OUTSIDE EDGE of the WORKING PART of the
lens: not the centre, nor the outside edge of the indicator casing. In other words, the outer edge of the bit where the light comes out.

Two circles on MDF with holes cut in them and two bits of 40mm waste pipe. Attached to a point under the headlamps. Job done.
