How Many?

How many relays should i realy be thnking of having in the wiring system on a standard Locost with Crossflow running gear and mechanical fuel pump?

Im thinking i will need one for Main Beam, Cooling Fans, Horn, Fog, Indicator and Heated Screen.

Am i going to need a extra Flasher relay for Hazards, specialy if i use the orignal Escort flasher relay.

Thanks.

You don't normally need one for horn... It's pretty low ampage. Ditto fog.
Most radiator temperature switches will handle a fan without a relay as well....

As ben says but i would use one for the fan.

Unless u use air horns then u dont need a relay.

Dipped beam, main beam, flasher unit, fan and heated screen.

relays relays relays, I'm sure I don't have half of those on my MGB, and that hasn't caught fire and killed me yet...

That's because old switchgear and the likes fitted to your MG had huge brass/copper contacts and were able to handle large circuit currents. Nowadays most switches are only used to switch the coil side of the relay at a rate of Milliamps. This is why they are more compact/neater to look at.
I have relays for
Fan
Horn
Main beam
Dip Beam
indicator flasher unit
Fuel pump (in the megasquirt relay box)
And a 100 amp ign relay. (not really necessary)

My car is similar in spec to the above, including heated screen. I don't use any relays at all. The Escort Donor didn't have any, neither did the Manta (steering column stalks etc). Have run for 4 years in all weathers and never had an issue. The loom is one I knocked up and has got slightly heavier gauge wires than standard, and hasn't failed yet!!
