Would this work?
Would it be possible to take the coils and cdi from a bike engine (carb model engine) etc and fit them to a car engine to control spark?
The old zx10 i had was quite simple and the cdi only really controled the spark, i know i need the crank sensor but this could be fitted to the engine
or just use the original sensor and splice this to the bike setup.
Just wonering if its been tried as im temped as its locost lol. planning on running a k-series on bike carbs and this would sort out the spark.

You could but you'ld be lucky to find a bike ECU that matches the ones you require for your K series....
ie from a ignition map point of view. The timing will likely be wrong (for maximum power at least)...

get the cheap bike parts, ebay them then build a megajolt with the £££

The coils and HT leads would probably be just fine. The CDI will have a timing map to suit the bike engine. Even if you got a suitable crank sensor
on your K series (probably not that hard) then the timing will be pretty poor.
It will either run with limited power, will run rough or may not run at all.
edit to say, actually, you might be lucky and it runs just fine. It depends how much your engine matches the bike engine.

Approx costs for what i bought
Megajolt kit - £50
Coilpack, EDIS4, VR sensor, TPS, Leads etc from breakers - £30
New cable for loom - £15
Shielded cable from Maplin Electronics - £4
So all in you will be looking at around £100 - £120. Definately worth it and as said the bike ECU is likely to have a totally unsuitable map.

Forgot to add to the list above - you will need a trigger wheel to bolt to the crankshaft pulley also. Mine was about £10 although you can get them
from a breakers yard too off certain Ford's
As for suppliers, try dropping Paulf on here a U2U to see if he can help. He supplied my kit to me a few months back. Took under 2 hrs to solder up
the kit and is pretty simple following the instructions.

Cable i bought from Vehicle Wiring Products and ordered it in the proper colours with lengths to suit the car.
You'll need parts from a breakers yard off a couple of cards so try a search for recommended bits and what car to find them on

If you can yes - R1 carbs have them on already but am sure there must be others
