Wiring Electronic Flasher Relay - Help !!
Cam anyone help me please, I'm trying to replace a conventional flasher relay with an electronic type to stop the indicators running too fast -
I have LED rear indicators.
It seems that whichever way I try and connect it I either get permanent light with no flash or blow the fuse.
The old relay has three terminals marked 49, 49a and 31. The new has three marked 49, 49a and 5. Does anyone have a one to one terminal mapping or any
other idea what I am doing wrong ??

Are you sure you're not pulling too many amps for the LED flasher? Some of them don't like the amps normally pulled by a bulb-based
set-up...

49 - 12 V supply
49a - indicator switch
31 - earth
no idea what 5 is.

So, got fed up and measured the resistance of an indicator bulb. Came out at about 0.8 ohms. So have bought 2 ten watt rated wirewound 1 ohm resistors
and will experiment with them in parallel to the indicator circuit to mimic an extra bulb to see if I can get the flash rate correct.
If it works I'll mount the resistor on a chassis rail to dissipate the heat.

how much did that cost?
if you have receipt, return them.
use the money to buy proper electonic relay; about a tenner at most;
RFL3 or RFL5.
why waste engine power to heat up resistors instead of providing forward motion?????
