Battery for 4AGE

First a big thanks. I've been struggling to start my Toyota 4AGE all summer and pretty much come to the conclusion that there was a fault in the OMEX box. But then on Friday there was a comment on this forum about the Aux connection on the ignition switch being disconnected during cranking. I didn't know this and had the OMEX box powered with a temporary connection to the Aux contact.

2 minutes to fix this and the engine started third pull. I'm a happy man - though feeling a little peed off at a wasted summer.

A huge thanks to whoever made this comment.

To my question. Any suggestions on what battery to use with a 4AGE - something light weight but not too costly. So far I've been lifting the battery from my tip top when working on the engine, but now need a more permenant solution.

On the same subject, I met someone at Newlands Corner the previous Sunday running a 20V Toyota in a green 7, with a really smart looking light-weight battery - but didn't take details. If you're on-line I'd appreciate your thought. Of course, suggestions from anyone else are also very welcome.

Thanks

My 4age has a DMS Technologies' Red Top 25' 12v Racing Battery, unfortunately I can't tell you what its like as it's never had to start the engine yet!

Hi

Run a Striker with 4AGE.
Had the Westco 12V20P (google it) Gel battery recommended to me and it's been excellent, and not too expensive either.

Before that used the Lead Acid from a Reliant Robin as they're small for a car battery - but nearly as much as the above.

Seen several different Bike batteries used too - but think for a very few extra £'s a gel battery is worth the extra dosh.

It was me at Newlands

It was an Odyssey PC545 battery - got it new on ebay for £40.

I got the powervamp battery holder and the auto terminals to go with it.

Light and powerful.
