Need help with U7, 8 & TR5 !
squbti - 12/4/09 at 08:55 AM

Hi, I´m building the Haynes roadster in Sweden & as you know the stearing here is on the left, so I was woundering what to do about U7,U8 & TR5 ! Can I just switch them arownd (mirror them)?
Also , I can see TR5 on all the drawings but not in any photos in the book or any of the builds I´ve seen on the net , so should I have a TR5 or not ?
Thanks ,
Samy

Hi Samy,
not sure what you need to do regarding making the chassis into left hand drive but the TR5 i believe some people don,t weld into place until the engine has been trial fitted as it may or may not get in the way when placing the engine into the chassis, sounds like i,m at the same stage as yourself, i,ve tacked TR5 into position at the moment to ensure the chassis is as per the drawings but may remove it to place the engine in then fully weld in place.
hope that suggestion helps,
all the best with your build.

Samy,
i,ve just looked on the Haynes forum( sorry don,t know how to do a linky), there is a section detailing all that needs to be done to change the chassis into left hand drive, descriptions & detailed drawings, this might answer your questions.
the section is in the "Announcements" page about 5th thread down the list.
cheers

I´m using a Fors sierra 2.0 L from 85 , it has the SOHC . I´m just starting now with the TRs but should be done with that this week if I get some time away from the wife & kids

good luck with the build, i,m lucky as i,m building my car away from my home address so when i go to work on my chassis i don,t get any interuptions from the family
i suggest you join the Haynes forum as that site is dedicated to the Haynes roadster chassis, this site is a wealth of info for lots of kits & the two sites go side by side to give every bit of help & information you could ever need, & everyone seems to have the same goal = help to any builder of a kit to get another on the road.
best of of luck.
