Haynes Roadster doomed to £200 road tax?
vanepico - 14/9/11 at 02:46 PM

Is there anything we can do to get rid of the £200 road tax that comes with a ford sierra drive train?

I was wondering if you got all the parts seperately and got a Q plate, would the tax be based on the original system, with the engine being higher than 1549 paying £200 or would it be sorted into the latest tax system.

I was thinking maybe you could put a catylitic converter in and get less tax on it. I'm sure it can't be that simple

Will remain on engine size as you're not type approved.

vanepico - 14/9/11 at 04:13 PM

I've spent £17.50 on the book

Are there many 1.3 sierras still around?

jossey - 14/9/11 at 04:20 PM

best thing to do is keep ye eyes open in your local area. i found a sierra in a garden which someone gave me for £50 ended up selling it for 200 as i didnt need that much in end.

I did, and mine costs more than that. But a lot less than £200

vanepico - 14/9/11 at 07:15 PM

As much as I'd love the added mpg of a diesel it wont be that fun will it? I suppose the price of sierras would offset the tax, seeing as you'd pay a lot of money for a new engine or a bike engine so its probably the best way of doing it cheaply.

Has anyone bothered making a 1.3 pinto locost? Or is it going to be pathetic?

1.3 rx7 engine 220bhp out the box

vanepico - 14/9/11 at 08:42 PM

vanepico - 15/9/11 at 12:12 PM

Does it mean you can get a 1.3 and as many turbos as you can fit in the frame?
