If you have fitted a Sierra 1.8 CVH engine into a Haynes roadster frame, could you tell me how low you set it in the frame. It would be really
helpful to know how much sump is below the bottom rail and how much engine is above the top rail. I appreciate I will need to chop the sump. Also
can you tell me how much room you left between the engine block and the cross rail TR8?
I am just dry fitting mine to measure and make dedicated engine mounts. I find that the engine fits with plenty of room except on the inlet manifold
side (driver side), where the manifold hits the brace rail TR5. Should I put the engine so the manifold is above this rail, below it, or do away with
the standard carburettor and manifold and get some simple alternative (?what, and where from).
Really grateful for advice from someone who has done it.

To answer you on a few points I have approx 48mm from the rear of the engine to BR8.
My Chopped sum, (1 inch shorther) sits so the bottom is one inch below the bottom of the chassis.
I basically sat the engine and box level on the ground and then raised the chassis by sitting it on 1 inch square tube, (Left overs from the chassis
build.
The diagonal from front of driver to front of engine bay needs to be removed and put on the other side. The original book layout is for Pinto and
that has inlet on the other side, hence having to remove and replace.
I have managed with standard inlet or you can go bike carbs but watch out for the water cooling system as you need to either make up something special
or move the engine a bit farther forward and put a water tube from the rear of the engine.
I find that if you move further forward though you may have issues with the gear stick in normal use.
