Anyone a member of the Haynes Roadster Forum?
Charlie C - 20/1/17 at 10:41 AM

Hi

I've been trying to gain membership of the Haynes forum for a while so I can add my roadster to the Completed car list when its completed, the IVA has come and gone and I've have no response from the Haynes webmaster.

Could some one kindly add my details to the list please
050 Charliec 1.6 MX5 based (on ITBs) IVA passed 10/01/17

Thanks
Charlie

Last I heard it was closing down - then haynes themselves stepped in saying they would like to rescue it but I don't believe anything has been confirmed. So suspect the forum is in limbo.

Hi Charlie, I have added your build to the list.

I am aware that the Haynes web master is proving difficult to contact.

There was an announcement that the Haynes forum was to close.
This closure has been put on hold for the time being.

Given the very low volume of users on the site, I suspect it will ultimately closed.

Edit.
Congratulations on your IVA Pass

Thanks bonzoronnie for doing that.

I had seen that the web master isn't responding to people and the site maybe closeing, I've ended up looking at this site more purely because of the wealth of knowledge, and some of the rants are more interesting.

It does appear that the Haynes roadster in its sierra format has nearly run it course, I think a version 2 book using mx5 running gear is long over due.

Thanks
Charlie

I mentioned before that I had spoken to the Haynes webmaster and offered to take over the site. They were talking to me initially but I have not heard anything for some time.

I think that would be excellent if it could happen. LCB is a great resource - and often I find answers here more than on the Haynes site, but there are some excellent build threads on the Haynes site which I think it would be a great shame to loose..

I had read that Chris.

To me, that would seem to be the logical course to take.
There is a lot of useful information on there & should be archived somewhere.

Lets hope it all pans out for the good of all.

And I will second that one - I am on this and the Haynes forums and there is far too much knowledge on that site to close it down.
Hope you are successful Chris

Yes, it is a shame people can no longer register on the Haynes forum. That is also the reason why there are so few new users/new builders. I know some people who would like to be on the forum, but just read it because they can't register. I'm sure everyone know at least one person who has this problem. If new users could register, the forum would be much more active.

There are still some interesting builds being made, but what will happen when this guys will have completed their cars?

As said above, and before, closing down the Haynes forum would be a disaster if all the golden informations out there were lost.

When it comes to the new book, I make a call here : if someone wants to start an MX-5 based Haynes Roadster book, I would be very interested in collaborating by doing the CAD drawings (Solidworks). I can also do the editing (Indesign). There are many ways to get in touch with me; PM here, PM on the Haynes forum (same user name), my blog, etc.

Thanks.

I have sent them three emails so far, asking them if I can join.
It's annoying that people can't join and keep it running as it should.
