Hi Guys,
Looking to buy a sierra steering column to build as to book but not sure which column to get.
Below are the ones I have found.
Can you let me know which would fit too book etc?
1) Ford Sierra Mk2 Steering Column/KitCar/westerfield/trike/lightning Rod
2) Ford Sierra Cosworth Steering Lock & Colum
3) Ford Sierra Sapphire Adjustable Steering Column
4) Ford sierra steering column and key ideal kitcar
Cheers!
Personally, none of the above.
Not one of them is complete.
If i were really in a fix for one it would have to be the last one as it is most complete.
That said, it is not in the best of condition.
Trouble with an incomplete steering column is the difficulty in finding the switch gear etc.
Constantly surprised at just how much sellers are asking for Sierra parts now.
The Sierra Sapphire sitting in my drive may very well get broken for parts yet ( No bugger wants it whole )
ETA
Ignore the Cosworth BS, the word cosworth is often tagged onto standard Sierra parts in order to justify a larger asking price.

the early ones have a square hazzard switch, late ones have a round hazzard switch - I can't remember if there is any difference with the cossie
ones (if there is it'll just give you another headache when trying to fit it)
the only significant difference is that the late ones are meant to be run as switched earths (so the switches aren't rated for high currents)
which just means using relays (which isn't a bad thing anyway)
Adjustable ones are fine, but you may have to bolt the adjustable bit up tight.
BTW mk3 granada's (85-94) use a similar column to the sierra - it should be fairly easy to make these fit and with less people wanting them they
should be a fair bit cheaper
not the best pic - my stripped down+extened sierra one next to the granada one strait out the donor:
Hi guys!
I have an MX5 set up all painted ready etc, just missing the switches.
I know they are not adjustable but worth fitting that rather than the Sierra ones?
