Setting up R1 bike carbs
sonic - 26/4/16 at 08:18 PM

I have just fitted a set of R1 bike carbs to a Pinto 2 ltr engine, it starts and runs, ticks over but does spit occasionally through the zorst. I noticed if you rev it up the revs don't drop quickly but do return back to tick over after a couple of seconds.

All the linkages are free and the butterflies closing, I seem to remember it is down to setup either to rich or weak and body got an idea I can try?, I need to drive it around 25 miles to get it setup on the nearest rolling road.

Cheers

Have you added a return spring to the throttle linkage?

As it's quite common for them to be needed,as the bike runs a twin cable set up.

+2 I had to add a second spring. It also aids a lot with pedal feel (hands are more sensitive than feet!)

No I haven't but the linkage does return quickly back to its stop point and I tried putting my finger on it but it made no difference.

Cheers
